An article by Matthew Karp about presidents connecting to history included this:
At the Trump National Golf Club in Virginia, a plaque inscribed with Trump’s name commemorates a gruesome battle: “Many great American soldiers, both of the North and South, died at this spot,” it reads. “The casualties were so great that the water would turn red and thus became known as ‘The River of Blood.’ ”
This battle never happened. In 2015, a reporter for the New York Times informed Trump that historians regarded his plaque as a fabrication. “How would they know that?” he responded. “Were they there?”
The Second Battle of Dranesville was there, but it had 13 killed and 30 wounded, which by civil war standards was a minor skirmish. It was also spread out over the course of miles.
The article should have mentioned that there was a grain of truth to it.
Is this any different from the dozens of fake magazine covers Trump hangs on the walls of his golf clubhouses?
He makes a shamble of everything he touches, says, or does. None of it matters as long as Trump emerges as a perfect man in all of them.
But this plaque sure reminds me of Sarah Palin making up history to suit herself.
"Firin' those warning shots and ringin' those bells."
God bless her. A least she had the good sense to know when to quit.
He's either managed to truly hoodwink a bunch of the people who voted for him or....he hasn't but those people so agree with some of what he says and some of his views, that they will go to the ends of the earth to keep defending him.
Maybe you should take off your rose tinted glasses and try reading"
"In this light, the most eloquent Civil War monument of all may be the former president’s own.
