I was about 30 feet away from a giant oak tree that got struck by lightning -- and I was inside thankfully. Really big tree BTW. The tree exploded down to a stump. None of it burned and there were no scorch marks on anything. And growing up, we had an apple tre that got struck by lightning. Same thing: Nothing burnt and no scorch marks. Just a good 1/3 of that tree that was dead and had to be cut out.
The idea that lightning always leaves burn marks of some kind is a myth. Lightning can ignite fires, but most often it doesn't. And where lightning happens to strike is never easily predicted.
We do know that Doppler Radar confirmed a lightning strike in that immediate area corresponding with the mural's destruction.
I believe it, it just seems crazy. It definitely could happen though. I remember when I was living in an apartment right by the pool and lightening struck the wrought iron fence surrounding it. That was the loudest noise I think I’ve ever heard. Freaked me out but time!
I'm not saying that God deliberately chose to direct a bolt of lightning against this specific rendering of a false idol. But I am saying that he could have.
The controversial nature of the wall aside, what is it with people in this thread thinking God literally directed lightning at a wall? Are people that superstitious still and ignorant of science still in this day? You all know what causes lightning, right? Hint: It's not some sky daddy shooting it out of his fingers.

Someone has to learn what sarcasm and jokes are - did you really go through the whole thread and not get it?
The Apocalypse is nigh. God is expressing his displeasure. We have been warned.
