Now in Vegas.

Thankfully though it's just a recommendation and as far as I know only the employees at certain casino's are required to mask.

Masks are back in Las Vegas, after regional health officials on Friday cited a rising number of coronavirus cases and advised everyone — vaccinated or not — to wear facial coverings in crowds and indoor places.

The recommendation from the Southern Nevada Health District isn’t a requirement. But it affects casinos, concerts and clubs where business has boomed since restrictions were lifted and the state fully returned pandemic control measures to counties about seven weeks ago.

“Both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals should wear masks when they are in crowded public settings ... such as grocery stores, malls, large events and casinos,” Dr. Fermin Leguen, the region’s chief health officer, told reporters.

He said the district doesn’t have authority to make masks mandatory, leaving that question to the state, county and cities.

Not suprised at all when the masks came off, things opened up, and people got way too lax on social distancing and following health protocols...pandemic not over by a longshot yet...hopefully no lockdowns again.

I'm still not interested in going back to Vegas, not because I'm scared of Covid but because I want it to be like the last time I was there in September of 2018, and from what I have read it's not.

That being said, I'm heading to a large casino/resort in southern Oklahoma in August and hope it's still mask free and relatively normal. Mask free and normal was why I was willing to get the J&J vaccine.

I desperately need a f$#^ing vacation! Haven't been out of town overnight on anything but business since September of 2019.

The countries where these variants evolved were following protocols. There's only so much people can do. We're just going to have to fight through it.

I posted a story on this yesterday. My wife and I are passing on the sold out Bruno Mars show next week (I asked for the tickets to be refunded as they violated the terms of the sale and never mailed the tickets to me). The show is sold out and tickets were selling from between $600 to over $1000. The price plummeted over the last couple of weeks when Vegas received the dubious honor of being #1 in the country in new cases.

They went a little nutso and tried to make all the money they lost in the first two months back (not very intelligent). They'll be back to full masks for everyone within the next couple of months, partitions will be back, and capacities will be restricted. It was too much, too soon.

Was there any evidence that masks actually slowed down the spread of covid? I haven’t seen any. Covid cases exploded after mask mandates were put in place around July/August 2020

Mandates were lifted in early May and rise started again in June. Coincidence?
