I think we had some fire fighters from other countries helping with the major forest fires and we do the same with them.

WE NEED TO STOP HELPING ANY COUNTRY OUT ANYMORE. Lets fix our own roads and bridges.

Depends on your goals and care for humanity. Helping others who are in the middle of a disaster is what friends do.

First off most roads and bridges are the jurisdiction of states and counties.

I'm still trying to figure out why the federal infrastructure budget includes things like water lines. That's all local.

But why should the whole country pay for flooding in Houston. That was caused by local laws and permits.

Maybe you mean stop bailing out Americans who do stupid stuff. They are so busy with their lives they have no time to pay attention to what their own local elected officials do.

Bus Man, Sungrins, Retroit, RustyCrowMustang, Chacho_Keva, J'aimesDesVilles, mco65, danielj72, Natnasci, and others, thank you. No. I was not aware of the assistance other countries provide or offer us when we have disasters. It is not very publicized. I'm glad to hear of the examples you all provided.

May want to reconsider your media choices if you were not aware of this.

In fairness to the OP he/she admitted they made an incorrect assumption and were appreciative of the info.

This forum could use more of that.

You're right, NBC, ABC, and CBS have been under-informing me for decades now. It is time to consider something a bit less censoring for my information supplements.

The ONLY example of such I can recall is when Canada provided burial space for victims of the Titanic disaster. Many of those were Canadian, Irish, and English citizens as well as American.
As memory serves me, Britain offered help.

CBS - Mexico Sends First-Ever Aid North

NBC - Mexico’s first-ever aid convoy rolls into U.S. A Mexican army convoy loaded with aid for Katrina's victims arrived in San Antonio, Texas on Thursday, becoming the first Mexican military unit to operate on U.S. soil since 1846.

ABC - Mexico's Red Cross to provide Harvey aid

Being woefully ignorant of things isn't an unpopular thought. It's just being woefully ignorant. Mexico sent a bunch of firefighters up here during the California fires. Also Australia. That was perhaps more of a mutual assistance type arrangement the fire seasons between Australia and US are at different times of the year. None the less it's not like Australia just said thanks for all the help mate, best of luck with that yah.
