Of course no one who supports limiting Chinese purchases of land has yet told me why the Democrats amendment to extend the limitations to Iran, Russia and North Korea is a bad idea.
That's because they haven't read the article; they've read only the OP's misleading headline.

China builds us cheap crap to consume, then we send our dollars there. Then they come back and buy all our land, houses, and businesses. Seems fair....
We are basically selling out the country down the road.
Actually many Chinese companies don't want us to send our dollars to China. When they get paid US dollars, they try to park the money in the US so that the communists back home can't get at them. They feel American society offers more legal protection, fairness and freedom than their own government. So they try to invest here.
Big deal, In time of war we can confiscate the land from the Chinaman, and they will be out out of money and the land
The problem is, with the land they buy, they employ other Chinese, & keep bringing in more and more and more of them. Eventually, they'll have an army of Chinese located within our own country, & they might not be so easy to eradicate.
China's playing the long game...they think in decades, wheras we have tunnel vision, so we see the here and now, & maybe consider next year.
50 years from now, there will be many millions of Chinese here.

That is exactly how empires are built....the long game of investing and accumulating.
The US, on the other hand, is busy invading other countries because we don't like the rulers.
