That's because they haven't read the article; they've read only the OP's misleading headline.

Who's smarter?
Not a quid pro quo deal.

Foreigners aren’t allowed to buy land in mainland China nor in Hong Kong.

Please, they pay a good portion of our bills. They save Americans billions.

Just because they're stupid doesn't mean we have to be.

We're a capitalist nation we welcome capital investments.

Actually many Chinese companies don't want us to send our dollars to China. When they get paid US dollars, they try to park the money in the US so that the communists back home can't get at them. They feel American society offers more legal protection, fairness and freedom than their own government. So they try to invest here.

The problem is, with the land they buy, they employ other Chinese, & keep bringing in more and more and more of them. Eventually, they'll have an army of Chinese located within our own country, & they might not be so easy to eradicate.

China's playing the long game...they think in decades, wheras we have tunnel vision, so we see the here and now, & maybe consider next year.

50 years from now, there will be many millions of Chinese here.

That is exactly how empires are built....the long game of investing and accumulating.

The US, on the other hand, is busy invading other countries because we don't like the rulers.

We all know that the difference is China will buy farmland, and farmland, and farmland, and farmland......

China has a habit/history of liking to get the edge on America, in America.
