A big part of Trump's enduring legacy (long after people aren't talking about "wokeness" anymore) is going to be tanking Obama's roaring economy that he inherited.
Nobody was asking for a miracle. Trump criticized Obama's GDP numbers for being so low and was quick to promise much higher numbers. He didn't make it sound like it was going to take a miracle to turn it around on the campaign trail.
So what happened? Trump got the tax cuts he wanted and then put up the same numbers that Obama put up. That doesn't include 2020 so you can't blame COVID.
Well, if you close down the economy and raise unemployment by 15% and above due to a worldwide airborne virus, all economies will suffer. It has nothing to do with Trump's economy which was doing great before the shut down. Unless a democrat can show us how to grow the economy and create jobs during a shut down then they sound silly calling this Trump's economy.
This is Trump's economy and we are currently in the 21st century's Great Depression. We will likely be waiting until the 2030s before we see any real economic recovery from this. It's going to be a long, painful decade ahead.
What was the alternative? how do you create jobs when the economy is shut down and the government paid more money to stay home? This is nothing like the Great Depression. It's an insult to that generation bringing that up. Back then they had the Spanish flu and WW 1 back to back. The Corona is a baby compared to the Spanish flu with the little technology they had and limited resources.
If you're worried about what happens during the next recession you should be worrying about Biden right now. But I guess "that's different".
Trump only had four years.
I'm worried about getting a fiscal conservative nominated on the Republican ticket in 2024. I can't do much about Biden. Y'all nominated probably the only well known Republican who could have lost to Biden.
When looking at % change it is necessary to look at the base at the start. A smaller base yield a bigger % change.
That won't help their argument though. To be fair, Obama did turn around the mess that was handed to him.
