“I’m a person of color and every time the term ‘master bedroom’ was used, I kept saying to myself, ‘I don’t like how it sounds,'” one listing agent and “educator in a racism and real estate continuing education class for Minnesota industry professionals,” told the Tribune.
TRANSLATION: Either
(a) I am genuinely offended by this term, which means I have the world's thinnest skin and am dumb enough to actually believe somebody meant the term racially when everybody with half a brain knows he plainly didn't,
- OR -
(b) I know that 'Master bedroom' simply means 'bedroom of the person or couple who owns the house and pays the mortgage etc. (derived from "Mister" which in turn is derived from "Master", hence the term)... but I'm afraid that somebody else might have the world's thinnest skin and might raise a fuss and I might get my name mentioned negatively in some social media sewer I'm unhealthily addicted to and I don't want anybody calling me a raaacist even though I don't mind calling others that as long as I can do it anonymously.
Either way, I'm a miserable specimen of humanity without the courage to stand up for what's right, trembling and whining that somebody somewhere might be offended somehow and that governs my entire life now.
The name could be changed to the mistress bedroom.
