..Yesterday, the CDC reported Florida’s COVID data, something that is part of a normal cycle after a weekend, claiming that the Sunshine State saw over 28,000 new cases on Sunday. That would have been a record high, and it helped drive another round of anti-Florida media coverage.

The problem? The CDC’s reporting was false...
All I know is I'm hearing personal stories from friends and family who are sounding the alarm on this Delta strain. My primary doctor had 12 cases of Covid on Sunday at the urgent care he works in. Today my friend in north FL had an appointment with her primary doctor. She was told he has 12 patients in ICU with Covid and lost two last night. Doesn't matter what kinds of questions are being raised. People are getting sick and dying.
To be fair, even the "correct" numbers are looking pretty bad, so while technically the CDC "goofed", the major takeaway is that the current trend is among the worst it's been. But then again, we're talking about positive cases only so the true value in the number is as suspect as it's always been.
Sounds like a data error was made, and caught within 24 hours. This isn't a big deal, and because these things happen, most jurisdictions use a 7 day rolling average.
Saying this leads to "Major Questions" or implying malicious intent is absurd. The system corrected itself, as it should.
The CDC relies on the states to accurately report. covid numbers and it’s entirety the fault of DeSantis for directing the Florida Health Department to play games with data release since June rather than continuing to do simple daily reports like they have been doing
Florida reported an average of over 19,000 new coronavirus cases per day last week, and more than 13,000 hospitalizations were reported across the state Sunday.

Agreed. Automated computer systems occasionally have errors. Humans review it and correct them. This by itself is not indicative of malicious or deceptive intent.
