I work for a fortune 500 company that has done the same years ago. The idea is that to retain quality employees they need to feel welcome as they are and who they are. Apparently it has been working.
This has nothing to do with wokeness... tattoos has been around for centuries before the term. No one in my company is expecting one to accept people and their personal decisions; simply respect them on a professional level.

Make-up isn't any less "professional" for a man than a woman. Tattoos aren't inherently "unprofessional", either.
Took them long enough. I don't care if flight attendants have tattoos or wear makeup. As long as they do their jobs and are courteous and professional that's all that matters.
