Usually when they die unvaccinated, the media leads with that in the headlines. I haven't seen any mention of the vaccination status, so perhaps they were vaccinated? We can't really know. Whatever the case, this is very sad. Police officers are constantly shouted at, spit at, and in close contact with sick people.
