40 years ago I was a junior in high school. If we had a score to settle we didn't do it with a firearm. And when it was done it was done. Whoever lost didn't go home get a gun come back and start randomly shooting anyone on the grounds. Matter of fact there were plenty of guns available in our trucks in the school parking lot and not once was one EVER used to "settle a score."
...
And now, here we are. Funny thing with all the past romance depicted in movies with "cowboys" settling scores in the street with guns it wasn't us that started all this current mess. That's because all that high noon stuff is mostly BS. This thing that has people settling petty beefs with guns started in the cities. And it's there, again ironically given the level of restrictions cities put on firearms, it remains.
Yup, because it has nothing to do with "the guns". Where I grew up scores were settled with clubs, chains, knives, etc. The outcome of "disagreements"/"engagements" didn't always lead to death, but very frequently lead to life changing injuries, and yes, this was in an urban environment.
Similar to you, this was about 40 years ago. Guns are an evolution in the tools employed by those whose sense of the importance of another human beings life is secondary to achieving a goal. It has nothing to do with "romance" or "cowboys", as you state, that's been around forever yet things weren't nearly as bad as they are now. Until we, as a society, can get these individuals to place a higher value on human life (including their own BTW), we can monkey around with the tools they use, but in the end, their actions will only change in form, not result.

Not really sure what you are talking about. Violent crime was actually a little worse in the late 80s and early 90s than it is now. What changed was it was politically popular to be tough on crime. Now half your politicians are soft on crime with ridiculous things like no bail and things are degrading rapidly.
Well, when you say BLACK savagery instead of UNDERCLASS savagery, it sounds like you're talking about the entire Black population. I specify that it's the underclass subculture within the Black population. The rest of the Black population has nothing to do with it. The underclass subculture has alot of violence.
It's both. BLACK and UNDERCLASS. White underclass people don't do things like this, and neither do black middle class people. There is something about the intersection of these two categories -- plus a third, namely MALE -- that results in a hugely disproportionate share of overall crime.

Yes, it was, again, only in localized areas....Detroit, St. Louis, Atlanta, LA , NYC... What we didn't seem to have, at least on a regular basis, is the "rampage" shootings. I think we addressed the mentally ill, a bit more than we do now.
And we have people in this country pushing to legalize all drugs...whiskey tango foxtrot
I don't think they are calling for all drugs to be legal, but they are finding that mushrooms can help with depression. Marijuana should be legal everywhere.

Agreed. My assumption is the legalizing drug advocates want what happened in Oregon to happen in the rest of the country.
I saw a picture of the suspect, and wasn't surprised at all.
We need to come up with real solutions to stop blacks from committing so much violence.
