Seven U.S. Capitol Police officers on Thursday sued former president Donald Trump and more than a dozen alleged participants in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, saying the defendants are responsible for the officers being “violently assaulted, spat on, tear-gassed, bear-sprayed, subjected to racial slurs and epithets, and put in fear for their lives.”
The complaint says Trump and other defendants “encouraged and supported acts of violence, knowing full well that among his supporters were such groups and individuals as the Proud Boys, who had demonstrated their propensity to use violence” against Trump critics.
I expect this lawsuit to be thrown out due to the FBI report that says there was no evidence President Trump or his people had anything to do with organizing any violence at the Capitol.

What insurrection?
Simply referring to the events on Jan 6 as an "insurrection" doesn't mean it was.

On one hand I think it is great, because then we'd get to subpoena the autopsy of Officer Sicknick, the internal camera footage of the killing of Ashli Babbit, the internal memos (emails) on the days leading upto the January 6th protest, the preparations of the Capitol Police and their actions that day, and more.
On the other hand, it is a complete waste of time because Trump has sovereign immunity.
On my third hand, it might be okay if it opened the door for all the police in America who were injured in BLM and Antifa riots to go after the politicians who encouraged them and the people who organized the events.
Suit comes out as Capitol police are about to release the name of the Ashli Babbit's shooter. This suit and timing of other 'events' are all planned. These individuals will have been counseled, coached and/or told what to do in interviews and public. Since insurrection will not work those cops will be portrayed as victims. Yes victims of some criminal activity but organized or for someone else?

We've known for months that the shooter was Lt. Michael Leroy Byrd.
We know nothing else since the "review" was done without public scrutiny.
