Heading into the holiday weekend, Californians are paying the highest price ever per gallon of gas for this time of year — $4.39 for regular, according to the Auto Club of Southern California. That price has remained unchanged over the last week. A year ago, the statewide average was $3.24 a gallon for regular.

Gas prices are only the tip of the iceberg.....inflation is up big time on just about everything. We have finally gotten to the point that too much money has been printed, IMO

California's gas is more expensive because all gasoline sold in California must be reformulated to remove pollutants that cause smog and cancer.

I'm willing to pay more for cleaner air, but California needs to invest in nuclear energy and electric cars.
There's no reason why we should be using fossil fuels in the 21st century.

They are likely to save Gavin's butt on the recall. They don't care.

I don't miss him. Get somebody else who's sane and intelligent enough to beat trash Creepy Joe in 2024.

The US is currently producing more crude oil than we did in 2017, most of 2018, definitely more than we did in 2020.

Spoiler alert: Presidents don't control the market price of gasoline.

Reminds me of the old quote "there are three types of lies: lies, damn lies and statistics".

I’m more upset about the price of Diet coke than gas. I just filled up for $3.99 a gallon in Riverside. Still high, but that's not $4.39.

Oh.

Sounds like it's both federal and state Democrats responsible for California's gas prices, then. Not just federal.

Democrats. Doesn't matter where you put them - you're going to pay for that decision.

Fossil fuel energy is outdated and unnecessary.
Pollution caused by fossil fuels causes millions of deaths globally every year.

Nuclear energy produces no air pollution.
The small amount of radioactive waste can be easily stored in underground tunnels 2+ miles deep under the Earth.

Not going to derail the thread Vikings but fossil fuels power motor vehicles, and even today, more than 20% through the 21st century, we don’t have the tech to replace them all with electric. So I stand by my assessment of your statement that we should be completely off fossil fuels in the 21st century.

I’m with you on nuclear BTW.
