As someone who lost a grandparent to actual dementia last year, it really is classless how people, mainly right-wingers, use it as a punchline because they think theyre scoring cheap political points. Cant say "deplorable", but are encouraged to say "dementia Joe." You call democrats rude and classless people, yet complain that you cant say r---d anymore because its so PC. You love making fun of neuro disabilities. Shows the true colors.
Don't even try to compare Trump with the dementia ridden creep that's in there now.
Trump was running things just fine.

Methinks you doth protest too much.

Biden is 78.

Trump will turn 78 in June, 2024.

The only time Trump can string together a coherent sentence is when he is insulting someone, and it's been that way for quite a while now, which in fairness is when his supporters are usually listening to him, so I can understand the cognitive dissonance.

You pose an interesting question.

Biden, while doing a terrible job as president, has support from nearly half the country's voters. But where are his supporters? Other than the talking heads on the cable television, you don't see any real cheerleaders from Joey B nor his administration.

Then you had Trump before the current disaster. Pre covid, he had unemployment way down. The souterhn border was pretty much locked down. The middle east wasn't in the news much because most of the pot stirrers were on their best behavior. Same with the norks. Gasoline prices were reasonable and it was readily available. The stock market was up. Inflation wasn't a concern. Economic activity and it's outlook were quite rosy.

All summer long there were boat flotillas and car parades of his supporters going out enthusiastically backing his run for reelection. Some of the vehicle parades were tens of miles long. Yet the polls want us to believe that his guy had mediocre support as president.

The 2 administrations, as far as visible support and poll numbers are in sharp contrast to each other. There are lots of possibilities to imagine.

Biden's many supporters aren't the type to make public displays of support.
Trump's supporters, although few in number, like to make a huge deal of backing him politically.
The polls are wrong. They are oversampling 1 group of voters or just being dishonest with their results.

Yes, but there were (and still are) many silent Trump supporters too.

There's hundreds of thousands of supporters of many administrations who don't run around flying campaign flags on their pickups or bumper stickers on their Volvos, who wouldn't get caught dead getting into purple-faced political arguments in the break room or breakfast table or on the Internet, but who would still talk to a pollster on the phone.

In the end, elections are what count. The people spoke. And there are few if any second acts in politics any more, something HRC learned, and Trump will learn too.

In three months Biden will be in the fifties again, once the current episode of vaccine wars subside, and for good or bad, Afghanistan fades from the short memory of Americans. You can mark your calendar.

It's already getting close to a Weekend at Bernies sort of thing. Once it gets to the point that one of Biden's arms fall off or his nose peels away... well, that's going to be kind of hard to hide.

To make matters worse, EVERYONE has come to realize that Biden causes huge problems every time he opens his mouth, as his dementia prevents him from coherent, rational thought and he is plagued by emotional outbursts. Reports from democrat insiders suggest that the White House staff cringes every time he opens his mouth. Pelosi has even tried to muzzle him.

So................................................ now we have "the president" who is unable to formulate policy and unable to communicate with the nation without creating a huge mess. What is one to do?

1. Just read the teleprompter. The dems have tried that, but Biden even screws that up, creating word salad words frequently. Most demented patients are still able to read until later stages of dementia; they just can't process what they have read, as their hippocampus and association cortices are shot.

2. Answer no questions except pre-arranged scripted one. Dems have tried that- Biden screws those up and then runs away after all the scripted questions are completed.

3. Just have the press secretary read the "messages". Biden is just reading somebody else's thoughts anyway and is not interracting with anyone. Having him present is somewhat dangerous, but the nation will begin to suspect that he has suddenly taken a far worse turn if he never shows up to speak.

4. Have pre-recorded "press conferences". Again, since that practice is unusual, the nation will suspect that he is no longer capable of giving addresses and is thus incapable of running the country.

5. Canceling press conferences all together. That is probably the dems best option, as then Biden can't screw anything up and no one will witness his progressive decline. Like during the campaign, when it is absolutely necessary that he appear, they can stoke him up with stimulants to make it appear as though be is still functional.

Quite a dilemma when you have a fake president who can't speak to the nation he is supposed to be leading.
Maybe he can just tweet. Other recent presidents went years without holding a press conference.

Biden has been letting his off-script comments get him in trouble for decades, by the way, age has nothing to do with it. If anything, his gaffes are much less common now than when he was VP. Best behavior time I guess.

Trump on the other hand, his word salads get tossed more every gaining year. He's never been a MENSA candidate, but old videos of him in his thirties, forties, fifties making comments about this or that show a much more polished, more articulate version of himself.

Age isn't the issue, per se. Dementia is not the same as age-related cognitive decline. Suffice it to say there are serious questions about Biden's cognitive health.

Well stated and done with a level headed style.

Sorry about your grandparent. Sincerely.
