The mailman is the one government employee that is around the most people. They go door to door and deliver mail and packages. Why were they exempt from the mandate?

Would it have anything to do with how they deliver ballots. Exempting the Post Office has to have some benefit to them. I'm just wondering what it is.

What are your thoughts?

When was the last time you were within six feet of your postman?

My mail man puts the package on the porch, rings the bell and is in the vehicle before I get to the door. I have talked to my postman maybe once in the last 15 years......and we were outside .....

Not sure your logic makes sense.

And I suspect after this week -- they may be mandated to get the vaccine.

That would also apply to the majority of Federal workers that do not deal with the public yet they have a mandate.
USPS deals with the public on a daily basis.

When was the last time you want to the PO ? Do USPS workers work there ?

This was discussed in another thread and someone suggested it was on account of their union contract. I don't know if it's true but it sounds plausible. IT doesn't, however, address any potential disconnects with private sector union contracts.

you are kidding, right?

I work in a federal building. Mailman probably have much higher risk of exposure to covid due to the nature of their job than most federal employees I work with like CBP import specialist or IRS tax accountant or USCIS clerk shuffling paperwork in an office environment

And then again...maybe not because USPS is not subject to Federal mandates.
OSHA yes, the President no.

HOW?

Do you guys see your postman on a regular basis. I don't see them having contact with many people except in their facilities?

They do have a strong union and I suspect that's why up until this week the vaccine hasn't been mandated. But up until this week the vaccine wasn't mandated for many people.

mailman are still out there IN PUBLIC going inside buildings to delivery mail, sharing and breathing the same air with everyone in a same elevator, touching door knobs, eating their lunch at fast food places, buying their water from 7/11, etc.

The majority of federal employees are NOT OUT IN PUBLIC. Most of them are probably cocooned inside their sterile cubicle
