If you want to argue that AOC is not a hypocrite, try arguing that she's there to troll the event rather than to enjoy the limelight.

I think that's more tenable than redefining terms to deprive them of their usual connotations.
Nope, again, Tax the rich has never meant rich people cant exist. and wealth inequality gaps shrinking wouldnt mean things like the met gala stop existing.

Heck, I live in a city where people save all year to buy Mardi Gras ball gowns. Rich or poor , people still like to celebrate in nice clothing.

The bigger corruption happens when she schmoozes with the millionaires and billionaires at the party, laying the groundwork for trading in campaign donations and political favors.

The "tax the rich" emblazoned on her backside should have read "for sale".

The ridiculous over the top hypocrisy is that she did this wearing a custom made ballroom gown that is probably worth what the average person in her district earns in year.
So they can give her anything if it's tax deductible?
If a charity auctions off a million dollar baseball card for example some rich person can legally buy it and give it to her? I've genuinely curious.

Of course she's for sale, all politicians are.

It's easy to spout socialist nonsense when you don't have anything, not so easy when you do.

No, they didnt, The person speaking in the video never calls it that, but the title slides do, and that video was posted and edited by some random right winger.

Like, the words on the screen are literally in 3rd person referring to the speakers. How is this not plain for you to see ???

Plus, if your someone, designers will give you the dress for the evening. They want their name out there.

Its the dumbest logic I ever heard. I don’t like paying taxes but I will never turn down a raise because I would be taxed more.. lol.
This isn't true of income tax,but there actually are cliffs with certain government benefits where making more actually means you make less.
I agree most people don't understand how tax brackets work at all.

Rich people have little if any personal income to pay income taxes on.

I probably paid more in "income taxes" last year than most multi-millionaires.
The facts say otherwise

You'd think her dress said "Eat the Rich" what with all the wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Just a reminder:
  • The richest 1% of Americans own 35% of the nation's wealth. ...
  • In the 1950s and 1960s, when the economy was booming, the wealthiest Americans paid a top income tax rate of 91%. ...
  • The richest 1% pay an effective federal income tax rate of 24.7% in 2014; someone making an average of $75,000 is paying a 19.7% rate.
