  • Example (Permissible). You receive an invitation to an evening event with cocktails and finger foods. The event will have tables and plates for your food. You may attend the event, regardless of who invited you.
  • Example (Impermissible). Your colleague forwards you an invitation to an event they will be attending. The event will feature a carving station, salad station, and a collection of breads. Because this event will offer a meal, it is not a reception.
  • Example (Impermissible). You are invited to lunch briefing and the organization sponsoring the briefing plans to pass out boxed lunches. Because this event will offer a meal, even though a low-cost meal, it is not a reception.
  • Example (Permissible). You are invited to an evening reception with appetizers and background music played by a jazz quartet. You may attend the event.
  • Example (Impermissible). You are invited to an evening reception with appetizers and music performed by last year’s Grammy winner for best artist. The Grammy winner will sing for two hours. Although the food and drink are nominal value, the event’s nature is a concert and is not a reception.

I guess it all depends on what they ate. Those are some odd rules.

It may fall under something else, as it is a cultural event of an area she represents, DeBlasio was comped also.

Well the ethics complaint was made, we'll have to wait to see their determination

It then goes on to rules on Widely Attended Events, and I'm sure hundreds of other things. Have fun reading!!!

You fell for a lie.

Notice how you use "effective" tax rates for today's taxes, but just the "top" bracket for the 1950s. There is a huge difference between effective rates and the top bracket rate. You are comparing apples to oranges. Remember, only the amount above the bracket's floor is taxed at that top rate.

The effective tax rate for the top 1% and even top 0.1% were only barely higher in the 1950s than today. There were far more loopholes like rental income from real estate investments being exempt back in the 1950s.

Remember, Maddow is full of it and frames arguments deceptively to fool.

Do you have any idea what the Met Gala is? It is one of the most prestigious social events of the season. It is attended exclusively by the wealthy cultural, financial, and political elite. It costs $30,000 to attend. While ostensibly a fund raiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in reality it is a big prestigious party for the wealthy elite.

AOC’s attendance, and her choice of dress, shows an embarrassing lack of self awareness. It’s akin to Marie Antoinette saying “Let them eat cake”. I can assure you, there wasn’t a peasant in sight (well, except for the hired help)

Have you ever dove deeply into the history of communism throughout the world? AOC is not a hypocrite actually. We all know she and her ilk are communists, correct? Well under communist rule there are two classifications. Well technically three but two main ones. There’s the elite, live like royalty, look no further than east Germany, North Korea, or even the former Soviet union during the height of its communist years. All the leaders live like royalty. In Germany they had their own communities while the rest of the country scrounged for scraps. In North Korea under its former communist leader, 3 million people starved to death while the leader Kim Jong ill ordered exotic meats and seafood from all around the world, drank the most expensive drinks, and lived in luxury. Then you have the class that is dying. And you have a few who fall in the middle. That’s communism. AOC is a communist. She is living the role of the elite leader. This is her goal. These people will tell you how to live, And then they will live life the way they want to live theirs. So don’t call her a hypocrite folks, she’s not being a hypocrite she’s being a communist. This is what they do.

That’s how it work!

Well considering a table at the met gala goes for $300K, she was eating with the rich.
