Both "But Trump" and Biden's poll numbers don't really matter right now.

They will matter next year if they drag on congressional and senate races but that's a long way off.

Ditto for 2024 but only if Trump runs, to which I will wait and see.

These polls not close to any election time don't mean much but nice to see any way. Dems will get wiped out in 2022.

Presidents get credit and blame for all manner of things. Their approvals go up, they go down.

What is there to explain, exactly?

Not much, other than Biden better have some strong months ahead or 2022 is going to be a tough election year for the D's and yes I agree that presidents get credit\blame that often don't deserve.

Personally, I think the D's are between a rock and a hard place given the eviction moratorium ending and inflation hitting hard.

Winter is coming.

The major news networks are going to go into a feeding frenzy of stories of families living out of cars, long lines at the food bank, people living under bridges etc etc.

You cannot just shut down a country without dire consequences to the working poor. I warned about this well over a year ago that protecting people from COVID was going to really hurt part of the country.

That's the butchers bill to pay for those actions, not arguing right or wrong but you're going to see people trying to crawfish away from that come election time.

100% agreed. Politicians love to swoop in and "save the day" when the public is screaming for it, then they try to run away from the realities of what those actions caused later. Happens every single time. In the scenario of COVID relief, though, both teams own it.

biden's poll numbers are irrelevant,

biden can be at 15% approval and will win re-election with a fraudulent election process and an official propaganda machine.

Less then a year into his presidency, Biden is easily the worst president during my lifetime. Its not even close. A disaster in both domestic and foreign policy.

Housing shortage? Crime going upwards? Water shortage? Rent going through the roof? Nah, it does not matter, Biden is letting up to 2 million people in this year illegally regardless of the long term consequences. Because with Biden being woke and politically correct liberal politics is more important then American citizens or anything else.

On foreign policy, America is back huh? It looks like America is in retreat. Afghanistan abandoned, Americans and allies left behind, our NATO allies are furious. Nations around the world may not have liked Trump but at least they still respected the power of the USA.

In contrast, with a weak president like Biden - now the Chinese leader refuses to meet with Biden. What the hell? Who turns down a photo op with an American president? Apparently if it is with Biden.
