It depends. Louisiana is historically a tough on crime kind of place. Alot of Democratic cities were tough on crime until the last decade or so. This is the thing. Punishing crime is not that difficult. Enforcing the law isn't hard. PREVENTING violent crime is harder. Some people will commit alot of violent crimes regardless of which political party is in charge.

Considering this is Covington, Louisiana, a small suburb 41 miles north of New Orleans (In St. Tammany Parish), areas like that are known to be hard on crime. She might spend 20 years in prison.

Well, she won't be out of prison for at least a decade. Of course, knowing how violent she is, she might get more time for violence within prison.

She got 10 years in prison. Not 20. However, she will be in prison for at least a decade. Louisiana is a tough-on-crime state.
