We’ve gotten used to seeing Republican governors coming out against Joe Biden’s federal vaccine mandate for private-sector employers. In fact, a group of them have already filed a lawsuit seeking to block it. But when you start getting pushback from similarly positioned members of your own party, perhaps it’s time to take the hint. That’s what happened this week when Democratic Kansas Governor Laura Kelly issued a statement objecting to the policy and announcing her decision against enforcing it. Rather than attacking Biden over violations of people’s personal freedoms or privacy, however, Kelly took the much more polite approach of saying that Kansas already has its own plans in place and doesn’t believe that the national mandate is the “most effective” approach and it wouldn’t be the “best fit” for the needs of Kansas residents. The real story here is that there is a Democrat elected official who isn't absolutely insane. Congratulations to Governor Laura Kelly for prioritizing Kansans ahead of Marxism.

It's hard to see this as anything than subterfuge.

She'll fall in line, like all the other lemmings.

If I'm wrong, then better yet

The only reason she's doing it is that she knows she'll get fired by the people of Kansas if she keeps playing stupid COVID games like she's in a deep blue state. Normal people are tired of the "mitigation" B.S. and know it doesn't do a damned bit of good.

Yet, all the deep blue enclaves are hiding out in their basements double and triple-masked like it's March 2020. "Stay home, save lives!" "Wear your cloth mask everywhere, save lives!" "Stand on this sticker 6 feet away from someone in the store, save lives!"

None of the B.S. the so-called "public health experts" have pushed has done one bit of good and everyone knows it except for the CNN crowd.

Maybe she’s finally paying attention to what happened in Va last week with the Governor election?

Huh? A politician who is more worried about their local constituents and issues than the national party.

That was such a wonderful election, and NJ was so close.

Those working from home are professionals white collar workers working from their computers. They're not affected by the mandate, they have choices.

The mandate is especially hard on those who can't afford to quit work. They don't have the same options as the rich.

Democrats claim to be all about equity, and helping the downtrodden? Whether you are for or against the vaccine, the point is that the mandate is unfair to the working poor.

This is good, but not Earth-shattering, Kansas is effectively a red state that somehow has a blue governor.
