There actually Fascist Coup continues apace and most Americans seem to be completely oblivious to it. For starters, almost nobody seems to know what Fascism actually is anymore. The best summary: An unholy alliance between the political ruling elite and massive corporations, intent on installing a massively authoritarian system.

There is some question whether Joseph Goebbels actually said the words in title, but there is absolutely no doubt that those words were the Nazis modus operandi for seizing power in 1930's Germany. They started with the Communists and Socialists. Their own violent group known as the Sturmabteilung (Stormtroopers or the SA) picked fights and when these groups struck back, it was used as an excuse to stamp them out of existence, as well as handing the National Socialists more and more power. They even sacrificed the SA in order to further consolidate power. And Goebbels was the master liar, accusing everyone else of lying and claiming to be the only one actually telling the truth. We've heard a lot of that kind of rhetoric lately, haven't we?

The Democrats have been shrieking that Donald Trump was an evil Nazi and Fascist for the last four years. As long as you keep your definition of fascism as broad and vague as possible, pretty much anyone qualifies. And in the wake of a bunch of idiot Trump supporters doing something stupid, look what we get:
  • The Democrats are demanding an overthrow of government.
  • The Democrats are demanding that their political opposition be punished and ejected from power.
  • The Democrats are demanding widespread suppression of free speech.
  • The Democrats' allies in media are actively playing the part of Goebbels seeking to crush all news media not already loyal to the Democratic Party out of existence. Calls for the removal of Fox News, OAN, Newsmax and many more from all cable services are loud and absolutely hysterical right now.
  • The mega-corporations allied with the Democrats are now moving to silence all voices that are not loyal to themselves: Google, Facebook, Twitter, Apple, Microsoft, etc.
  • After telling Moderates and Conservatives to "build your own platforms" they did exactly that. Now the multibillionaires and mega-corporations loyal to the Democrats are coming to destroy those alternative platforms.
  • The Democrats have already declared their intent to pack the Supreme Court, and now there's nothing stopping them for doing it.
  • Many Democrats are calling for lists to be made and punishments to be dealt out to anyone who supported Donald Trump in the 2020 election. Some are already calling for re-education camps.
After only barely winning the 2020 elections, the Democrats are now hell-bent on ensuring that they will soon be the only political party with any power in the United States. This leads to nothing good and lots of bad outcomes, yet the Left is just cheering like crazy for all of it. How many people will die before this naked power grab is through?

Sometimes fiction perfectly reflects reality:

"We’ve had these kinds of conversations before, and I made it very clear that I work with the police and instructed them to do everything that they could to make sure that the protesters were able to exercise their right to free speech. It’s a very delicate balancing act. Because while we try to make sure that they were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on, we also gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well. And we worked very hard to keep that balance and to put ourselves in the best position to de-escalate and that’s what you saw this evening."

"Accuse the Other Side of That Which You Are Guilty" -- Joseph Goebbels

I noticed this myself.

As soon as we all became aware of the concept of fake news Trump latched onto it and accused the regular journalistic organizations of the practice.

When we learned about how compromised Donald Trump has been, and how our national security organizations had uncovered so much contact between the Trump campaign and Russia, Trump launched the allegations of "deep state" to attack our national security.

When Trump effed up the pandemic response, Trump blamed the governors.

After Trump secured all kinds of trademarks and special trade considerations from China he accused Biden of being under their influence.

The examples in this administration could probably run into the hundreds, if not thousands if we drilled down into it.

And of course we see Trumpie posters here try the technique all of the time, as in post number 1 above.

Yeah, but the fair part, not so much.

Instead of making up your own definition, why not refer to a dictionary? Here, let me help:
Quote:
Definition of fascism
1 often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2 : a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control
early instances of army fascism and brutality
(Mirrian-Webster Dictionary)

Why yes, we have. Straight from the Trumpster's playbook, as a matter of fact.

"Nazi" doesn't sound very vague to me. Do we really need to review all of Donald "Proud Boys--stand by!" Trump's defining moments?

What would you call an armed mob assault on Congress, if not an attempt to overthrow the lawful transfer of power in government? Actually, your term, "naked power grab" works pretty well...

Now let's discuss the mega-corporate interests behind the Republican hysteria, past vote suppression, etc.: the Koch brothers. You wouldn't happen to be on their payroll, would you?

Pot--kettle? Who refused to consider Obama's appointee to the Supremes? Allow me to jog your memory:
Quote:
The death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg less than two months from the presidential election has forced a reexamination of Republicans' 11-month blockade of Merrick Garland in 2016.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said in a Friday night statement that President Donald Trump's nominee to replace Ginsburg will get a vote in the Senate. Doing so would be a complete reversal of his position in 2016, when the GOP-led Senate refused to hold a hearing or vote on then-President Barack Obama's nominee, saying it was too close to the election.

Quote:
President Barack Obama quickly named Merrick Garland, then 63, to fill the seat. Garland had long been considered a prime prospect for the high court, serving as chief judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit — a frequent source of justices that is sometimes called the "little Supreme Court."

Widely regarded as a moderate, Garland had been praised in the past by many Republicans, including influential senators such as Orrin Hatch of Utah.

Speaking of rhetoric and may I add--hyperbole...? I'm not even going to ask you to back up your ridiculous claim of re-education camps.

. Gee, I don't remember you squawking about this, when the shoe was on the other foot. Where were you during the GW Bush Admin, , when Repubs at tones controlled Congress and the Presidency?

In view of the decades of systematic vote suppression by the Party currently kicking and screaming, and storming Congress earlier this week, your thread title looks like a very apt choice to describe your own screed and the outgoing President's complaints. How very Freudian. Projecting, much?

Accuse the other side of that which you are guilty: that is exactly what the trumplettes are now trying to do. Glad you realized it.
