Want to know what all those side effects remind me of? Pregnancy, lol. Pregnancy increases your risk blood clots because of high estrogen levels. Have you looked at a graph of hormone levels during pregnancy? Missed periods occur with high estrogen and progesterone levels. Hypertension is not a normal side effect of birth control.
Yes some of them are the same as some pregnancy symptoms. They have improved the pill considerably since it first went on the market.
Less than two years after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the Pill, word began to filter into the inner circle of the FDA and the drug companies of more serious side effects. There were reports of blood clots, strokes --and possible links to cancer. As early as 1962, the manufacturer of the birth control pill Enovid, G.D. Searle and Company, received reports of 132 cases of blood clots in Pill users. Eleven of the cases resulted in death. Searle maintained that there was no conclusive proof that the Pill caused those deaths, and the FDA assured doctors the drug was safe.

Thank goodness the pill has been fine tuned. When it first came out my OB/GYN would only give it to women who absolutely insisted.
My DD's best friend died at 28 of a stroke caused by a blood clot. Everyone including the ER docs thought it was caused by the pill.
Exactly. With marriages basically being 50-50 odds of working and courts typically favoring women when it comes to kids — a man in today’s world needs to be very selective and extra careful about who he creates a child with.
Did you ever stop to ponder why mothers most often have custody? Do you realize that custody is most always agreed upon during the initial divorce filing and generally does not go to family court. And when it does fathers are usually granted their custody requests.
Regardless of the future of the marriage both men and women need to be very selective and careful about who they create a child with. Too often they are not.

Yes. Women were desperate to control their reproduction though.
I have read most men dropped out of the clinical trials due to side effects: acne and mood swings.

There were issues with the first generation. The big question was how much hormone did you need. They based the amounts on early pregnancy. That was not the problem. The issue is that they hid the clot issues for years. Modern birth control tablets have far less. The high strength ones are only used if someone is on a drug which caused the birth control to metabolize faster.

Yes. When it came to women neither the medical profession nor government gave any concern to the safety of the pill or the dangerous side effects. It took actual women (who were not allowed a voice in the safety hearings) after many serious side effects and deaths to raise a big stink to make the necessary adjustments and require that all information be made available.
Where men are concerned, they have been researching and perfecting the male pill for 60 years and are still holding off due to acne concerns.
Hopefully the birth rate will drop to zero and the human race will go extinct.
