1. The protest ( that started in the Western part of K-stan) was legitimate indeed, and interestingly enough even Putin officially confirms it (getting points for himself in the process.)
So initially the protest started with demands to bring back down the price for the liquefied gas that the locals ( Kazakhs) fuel their cars with. Recently the price of it has doubled, and since people are not wealthy there, it hit their pockets significantly ( there was a lot of grumbling as well, why in such resource-rich country the level of prosperity is so low.)
But that's one aspect of it. Usually people ( protesters) of this kind are supported by all kinds of the NGOs, and there are plenty of them in Kazakhstan, Soros Fund including.
And that's where such dubious figure as
Mukhtar Ablyazov fits in - he wanted to attach himself to this protest straight from France ( or Great Britain, or wherever he is.) The bottom line is "people live bad because of the current corrupt government," that needs to be replaced with something totally pro-Western/pro-American. Pretty much the same theme that initially triggered Maidan in Kiev.
2. Except for Maidan in Kiev didn't produce marauders and looters ( they were stopped in their tracks,) while in Kazakhstan this was the second layer of "protesters."
3.And if in case of Ukrainian "revolution" its ultimate "foot soldiers" became the militarized platoons of the nationalists (well-prepared and organized,) then in case of Kazakh attempt of revolution, these "foot soldiers" ( well-organized and armed) seems to be the Islamists.
They keep on talking on the news about the "foreigners" that arrived to K-stan for this event - namely people from the neighboring Kirgizstan and Tadjikistan, but they are saying that Arabic speech was heard as well.
With other words - what would unite all these people would be the radical Islam, and Putin is saying that these were the people that underwent the training on the military bases/during military actions.
Whether it's true or not one can argue about, yet the fact remains that Russian troops that were sent to K-stan were the same paratroopers operating earlier in Syria, and even under the same general ( according to the German media.)
So.
Who was sponsoring THIS segment of the protest, (that ended up with beheading of 2 or 3 law enforcement officers)
?
That's what I'd like to know.
