Explain why you think globalist trade is liberal.

Letting the free market do its thing without the government imposing tariffs and trade restrictions is about as conservative as it gets.

Why do we send all our work to China, and simultaneously ***** about our southern border?

I would much rather have my products made in Mexico by Mexicans or Central Americans than China.

Let them move manufacturing to Central America. If people can have work and a decent life why would they leave to come to the USA?

It would sure cut down on the shipping cost.

Never understood why anybody would object to NAFTA and keeping north americans employed at home.

I guess Americans prefer their chit come from China.

1. free-trade is not FREE MARKET

2. you can not have free-trade without all things being equal (fir example: wages)

3 globalism is part of socialism...therefore leftist...ie liberals (American liberals)….socialism aims for a globalist society/trade..or better said a borderless entity --

why should GE (an American company HQ'd in Boston) make all its alarm clocks etc in Mexico and Malaysia???
think about it
median USA hourly wage is 23-25/hr
median Mexico wage 160/week

and you wonder why GE makes all its alarm clocks in Mexico.... and PAYS ZERO to import them to the USA... do you think that is really fair??

Republicans have not cared about that. When Trump got in his tariff war he was acting more like his past Democrat self.

So when Reagan said this was that him being a globalist socialist?
“First, I would immediately seek the views and ideas of Canadian and Mexican leaders on this issue, and work tirelessly with them to develop closer ties among our peoples. It is time we stopped thinking of our nearest neighbors as foreigners.”

It isn’t. Except in the very conservative/libertarian sense that businesses should be able to exploit those low labor costs without government interference.

Republicans have a long history of pursuing this. No idea why you are casting it as a liberal notion.

Reagan was one of the biggest cheerleaders and part of why he gets my vote.

They’re certainly right about that. Now labor has no power to resist business demands for ever-longer working hours and ever-lower pay. Businesses can simply threaten to send your job to some third world country, including white collar jobs.
They didn't even bother making the threat. They simply did it.

Not to hijack the thread, but.

Americans need to make up their minds. Do they want cheap or made in America?

You cannot have both. which is it?

We’ve voted with our wallets. Short term artificially inflated standard of living(cheap luxuries) won out over sustainability.

Asking the American people as a whole to lower their standard of living and embrace much higher prices than our current inflation spike for a long term benefit more for their children is a near impossible sell.

Did we? I don't recall having the opportunity to vote in the marketplace. I can't recall when I had the opportunity to see a "Made in America" item on the shelf beside a "Made in China" item and selected the "Made in China" item.

It seems to me that manufacturers realized they could fatten profits with production in China...and simply did it.
