I have lived in South Carolina for better than 60 years with a staunch unreconstructed republican family who changed from the Methodist Church to the Baptists after better than a hundred years because the Methodists had a picture of a black family in their Sunday School literature. All you have to do is read the laws that have been passed since LBJ was in office to deal with overt discrimination to prove it.

Why would it be a big deal? If you want to nominate someone for SCOTUS, all you have to do is get elected president and wait for an opening.

At the end of the day, it is still Biden's decision alone. Deal with it.
