Who knows though in an era where now - what was deemed "basic" needs has become more upscale.

Example- Now if you do not have a computer, cell phone- you cannot access certain programs funded.

If everybody has it where is it exactly coming from? There aren't enough people in the entire WORLD to tax from even if the entire globe was taxed 90 percent this still wouldn't work!

aside from the boring stuff, the philosophical problem would be how much is considered basic? 40k per year certainly wont take you far in progressive enclaves like California. another note, most people on ubi will spend their money on tattoos, dog food, fast food, drugs and alcohol..and whatever impulsive things they can live for the moment with to make up for their dysfunctional childhoods.

The problem with this Universal Basic Income Fantasy is that it’s not free. Right now, we have too many people who are sitting on their @zzes instead of working and our economy is starting to feel the pain. This is going to be a major issue by this coming Summer.

Plus, these are the SAME people who are also “beeching” that the store shelves are empty too!!

Please explain to me how this “Universal Basic Income” fantasy is going to work if our economy looses more and more workers? Hey Batman, riddle me this one…. If we don’t have people working, then who is going to pay for all this free money??

Honestly this UBI ideal is nothing but a wet dream ideal for a bunch of losers who what somebody else to take care of them since they’re too lazy. So if you’re not working and just sitting on your @zz, how are your going to contribute anything to our society?

And if people think inflation is bad now, throw that BS UBI ideal and watch the country implode on itself.

If people want money, they should try this radical ideal…. Get a freaking job!! Problem fixed!!

If the government gives you $2000 monthly, everything you buy or consume within 18 months will cost $2000 more. That’s how it works. Understand? You’re seeing that happen right now! And they haven’t even implemented this. Just from the bail out and printing press. Nothing my friend, nothing is free.

These little communist children will not learn until a gallon of gas is 20 dollars, a new car is 100k and houses are 1 mil plus. Socialism does not work. Also a socialist country can never be a free country. Of course the children are ok with surrendering our freedom for an easy government sponsored living. I hate what they have become and what they believe in. Communism and socialism have no place in America.

If we cannot stop this Marxist trend then its best for the remaining free states to secede ASAP. I want nothing to do with these traitors in the leftist states.

Does this discussion include the pumped up stock market and unlimited QE which are variations of the same theme?

Bottom line human nature dictates we will keep inflating and handing out free stuff. We are spending money we don't techically have by simply creating it from nothing. More money chasing fewer goods is inflation, the hidden tax.

It will not stop. A subset of posters here support it...they see deflation as something that must be fought at all costs. This is modern monetary theory.

I do not support a universal basic income because that would mean that everybody would just stop working and society would just get more and more lazy, drug addicted, criminal, and even more irresponsible than it already is. If people want money, then they should get a job. However I do support that people will be helped along if they experience circumstances beyond their control which they cannot overcome. Not necessarily disability, but sometimes people just can't get it together for some reason and actually need help. To those people as well as the disabled, they should be helped.

That is essentially what we did the past 2 years with all the stimulus checks going to just about everyone.

Yes it works. Creates inflation that we have not seen in decades and puts massive pressure on the supply chain creating shortages. If that was the goal it worked.

Imagine this limited UBI created all of this. What would happen if it was done on a massive scale? If the goal is destabilizing the country. It will work.

Reality is. If you hand out more money to everyone prices will simply rise to compensate for that. There will be no net advantage for anyone.
