It's very terrible idea. Basically say hello to inflation. The reason why colleges /university gone up so much all started with financial aid. When that wasn't enough, government started offering loans. Minimum wage depending on how much it goes up, can sometimes as well lead to inflation. You add billions of dollars to economy and everything will go up in price.
edit:I would support some type of real solutions housing for homeless but not ubi
The money mad masses believe that MONEY is the answer.
However, consider this - if money really cured poverty, let's go all in. Credit everyone with 22 billion billion units of currency, so everyone is equally wealthy and never "needs" more money ever again.
Now that no one "needs" money, who will bother to work or sell their labor and possessions for "more" money they don't need? Suddenly, the market shelves are bare, and civilization collapses. Even the starving children are phenomenally wealthy.
POINT : Money has no value unless there's something to buy with it.
REAL PROSPERITY is based on prodigious production of surplus usable goods and services - equitably traded and enjoyed. Doesn't need money for that to happen.
Can UBI generate surplus?
NOPE.
Then it is not a remedy.
The notion of a UBI is really popular, do you think it could work?
Creates state dependency. Do you think its a good idea for everyone to depend on the state to get by?
