The Republicans have been using race identity politics going back to the sixties. They cater almost exclusively to white Americans that are fearful of their diminishing dominance of the nation.

"The Republicans have been using race identity politics going back to the sixties."
The DEMS have been using race identity politics going back to the 18 sixties.
Uh, who stared the KKK?
Which US Senator was a KKK LEADER?
Jim crow, the writer of all those racist laws dems complain about so much, was a DEM.
Atwater died in 1991 but his ghost lives in the bowels of the GOP and has a steady influence on their racial strategy. You don't have to go very far into Atwater to see what he is all about:
"Y'all don't quote me on this. You start out in 1954 by saying, "N****r, n****r, n****r". By 1968, you can't say "n*****"—that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states' rights and all that stuff. You're getting so abstract now [that] you're talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you're talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is [that] blacks get hurt worse than whites. And subconsciously maybe that is part of it. I'm not saying that. But I'm saying that if it is getting that abstract, and that coded, that we are doing away with the racial problem one way or the other. You follow me—because obviously sitting around saying, "We want to cut this", is much more abstract than even the busing thing, and a hell of a lot more abstract than "N****r, n****r". So, any way you look at it, race is coming on the back-burner." (Lee Atwater)
Atwater really liked the N-word.
Worth repeating -- The "racial problem" he is referring in this sentence is the use of the blatant racial slurs or direct references to race. Instead, he advocates seduction -- using coded or abstract messages that suggest or refer to race. "I'm saying that if it is getting that abstract, and that coded, that we are doing away with the racial problem one way or the other."
IOW, race is coming on the "back burner" in a subtle and coded message. Now, the GOP is getting desperate, and the message is less subtle now. Apparently, the white supremacy folks were too stupid to pick it up.
So now, along comes Trump and the "good people" carrying tiki torches. The message was rebranded, but it is still the same message -- it had to be dumbed down to reach the target audience.
"Atwater really liked the N-word."
So did DEM Senator, and KKK official, robert byrd!
Please post ALL the time you have complained about BLACK rap "singers" using it.
Heard him use it multiple times during a TV interview.
"People in glass houses should NOT throw rocks"!
As I have said over and over, dems, hypocrites to the core!
Most Republicans today are not pro-Confederate flag, etc. based on the slavery and racism of the past. But what would blacks with a victimhood mentality and the left have if they couldn't pretend otherwise? It's like throwing out the bath water with the baby with them. There are plenty of racist Democrats whether or not they support the Confederate flag, etc. but let's just look the other way on that one, shall we?
Funny how so many blacks won't stand up against modern day slavery which is millions of cheap slaves from south of our border here illegally but are all up in arms about the slavery of the past.
Yes, there are voting rights but in order to have a clean election one should have to prove that they are a citizen of our country but again the left doesn't want that!
"Most Republicans today are not pro-Confederate flag, etc.""Photos: They're black and they're proud of the Confederate flag
This man is arguably the most frequently sighted member of a rare group: black Americans who support and defend the Confederate battle flag"
The same way that Trump called all Republicans "dumb" and "easily fooled", and STILL got the majority vote from those SAME 'Publicans in 2016?
Fair enough
