You ignore the fact that McCarthy had proposed Jordan and another extremist common-sense denier for the committee. Can you see how they would have sabotaged any reasonable work trying to be done by the commission? Plus, Jordan himself is a subject of the commission investigation so it would have been a conflict of interest for him to serve on the commission.
It is not as if Pelosi chose the members in a vacuum -- the GOP forced her hand.

Whether you like it or not, McCarthy pulled five of his nominees from being considered because Pelosi rejected Banks and Jordan who were loudly partial to Trump. Pelosi asked Kinzinger and Cheney to sit when McCarthy declined to participate.
The GOP apparently thought the principals could stall and run out the clock, hoping for a republican midterm victory that would dismantle the Committee. They were wrong, they were. There are going to be public hearings leading into the campaign season in the Fall, and they might reveal some really nasty things about 1/6 and the players.

I don’t think people grasp why what Cheney and Kinzinger have done was so egregious. It’s not about the choice to impeach Trump, otherwise there would be eight more names on the list. It’s that Pelosi did something never before done, she threw off the minority party’s choices from the committee. Fine, that was her choice to have a partisan committee, but of course that means it rightly loses all credibility as an unbiased fact finding entity. Then Cheney and Kinzinger accept Pelosi’s invitation to join against their party’s clearly expressed opposition, thus giving the Democrats a very false narrative of a bi-partisan committee. The issue isn’t that they are on the committee, it’s that they are on the committee in place of the party’s chosen representatives, against the party’s wishes. They are NOT representing their party, they are being useful pawns for the other party against their own party. This is immaterial of whether Trump was right or wrong - I think he was in the wrong, by the way.
Yes, that is egregious enough to the party for the party to withdrawal support of them.
