Russian Troops Shelling Europe's Largest Nuclear Power Plant
From the WSJ:
Ukraine's Kuleba Says Russian Troops Shelling Europe's Largest Nuclear Power Plant
Early Friday local time, Ukraine's foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba, said on Twitter that Russian troops were shelling Europe’s largest nuclear power plant in the southern city of Enerhodar.
“Fire has already broke out. If it blows up, it will be 10 times larger than Chornobyl!" Mr. Kuleba wrote on Twitter, referring to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster of 1986.
If there is any nuclear fallout, trade winds there generally go west to east, so Russia itself will get most of the fallout. Looks like Volgograd would be in big trouble.
Because it supplies a quarter of their enemy's electrical power
Didn’t they see the impact of Chernobyl, this is beyond stupid. There are othe ways of taking out power rather than blowing up a nuclear power plant. This is 10 times the size of Chernobyl and they are shooting at firemen.
Maybe a big wave of nuclear fallout would go over wherever Putin is and kill him from radiation poisoning.
