Or does he have too much common sense for the average Dem voter?

Manchin has a spine, so they cannot understand him.

I am a registered democrat and the impression I have of Joe Manchin is that he knows his constituents well and has his finger on the pulse of what matters to the majority of WV voters. Democrats have a lot of diversity of thought within our party, so some take issue with Manchin regarding some of his more conservative positions, others have a problem with his donors, but most dems are happy to have Manchin as part of our coalition.

I can understand different points of view regarding the Russian oil issue. Right now it seems like Biden is trying to balance sanctions that are punishing to Putin while limiting the pain for Americans. It may come to the point that he does have to cut off Russian energy.

He said they knew what Putin would do with Ukraine... and the Administration still decided to increase their Russian oil purchases anyway.

Follow the money.

Russian oil is 3% of US oil imported, so a 20% increase is actually 0.6% of all US imported oil

Perspective matters.

Manchin once stated he did not know if he was a Dem or Republican. I think he is a Republican and should come out of the closet already. Most of WV is not happy with him.
