Via NBC news. President Vladimir Putin has ordered his military's nuclear deterrent forces to be on alert as international tension builds over Russia's four-day-old invasion of Ukraine.
Putin said in a meeting of top officials on Sunday that the move was in response to leading NATO powers making what he called “aggressive statements,” according to Tass, the state-owned Russian news agency.
This is scary folks. I know it the odds are very low but no one ever thought he'd invade Ukraine either. Someone talk some sense to him.

He has positioned anti-air missiles and other advanced missile systems in Belarus and deployed his fleet to the Black Sea in an effort to prevent a western intervention in Ukraine.
No worries. Poopsie Biden has everything under control. He's got out backs. He and the top military brass have made sure the B-52s and ICBMs are all grounded in the name of climate change, but the folks in Cheyenne Mountain will keep your preferred pronouns straight as we're all being incinerated.

"Nuclear deterrence forces" is a bit confusing. Is he indicating he is expecting to be nuked?
Edited to add: The AP has clarified this is not, in fact, a defensive posture as the wording sounds, but an aggressive pro-active one. "Increased readiness to launch" nuclear weapons, not increased readiness to defend against an attack.
