With what? Rubles? They are literally locked out of using world currencies. Plus, India is an impoverished country. It poorer than Russia. Then there is this:

There was never any such thing as the United Soviet Socialist Republic.

It was the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

China gets 60% of their oil/LNG from Russia, and they get 70% of their uranium from Russia's puppet Kazakhstan. They are non-NATO, decently antagonistic with the US, and have a permanent seat at the UN table of 5. Makes absolute sense they abstain.

India is on the verge of signing a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union, and already has substantial bilateral trade with Russia. Pretty soon, the R-I-C component of BRIC will be the Asian equivalent of the EU economic agreement in Europe. Why does India jeopardize that with a meaningless vote in the world's most useless deliberative body?

Both China and India have substantial gains in staying friendly to Russia, and not much to lose by remaining neutral as far as the US/EU see it.

Add India's GDP/capita, China's and Russia's.

2,100 + 11,900 + 11,300 = 25,300

US GDP/capita = 69,400

So, not by 20, but by 2. You got me.

And China is still Communist.
The sum of averages (per capita figures) usually means nothing, because each of them has a different denominator (population).
The average of averages may be a useful figure.

A large number of nations in Africa and Latin America abstained from voting. Remember when we were supposed to 'amplify Black and Brown voices"? I guess that's only when they align with what White liberals want to hear. Unlike Western Europe Russia has never colonized Africa or Latin America. Don't think they've forgotten history.

You really must update your understanding from 1990. Russia is no longer a communist country. More like a fascist dictatorship at this point. If Russia takes them over, they won't be under communist rule, they will be under Putin's dictatorship. The Ukrainians remember how Josef Stalin caused the death of millions in what is called the Holodomor in the 1930"s

Still nothing stopping them from trading with China and India and all the other countries that will trade with them. India is 5th in the world in GDP and China is #2 so still a lot of trading opportunities.

India doesn't have significant trade with Russia except for buying weapons. It's a somewhat odd but solid relationship due to India needing allies after being invaded by China and the US preferring Pakistan over India to become friendlier with China, who are BFFs with Pakistan. The Soviet Union/Russia is an all weather friend to India and provided them with a geopolitical shield at the UN Security Council. The Soviets also dispatched a naval battle group when the US sent a naval carrier group towards the Bay of Bengal to support Pakistan against India during the Bangladeshi/East-Pakistan Liberation War. That type of friendship may become strained but doesn't die overnight.

Most of Latin America voted against Russia. Only abstentions were:

Bolivia
Cuba
El Salvador
Nicargua

Three of these are basically communist states. Not sure about El Salvador. There were no votes in support of Russia from Latin America.

Africa was a bit more mixed, though not much.
