Oh okay, so he's not mentally ill. He's just a killer, murdering thousands of innocent people.

Macron spoke to Putin today and the signs were ominous. "Nothing Putin said reassured us" - he denied targeting Kyiv, and he wants all of Ukraine. Madman maybe too playful of a term. Biggest threat to the western hemisphere in 70 years.

Laughable. It has been 7 days and he hasn't even taken Kiev yet. He could be a lot more brutal.

But, I seem to remember the USA doing the same thing in countries ....

Besides this thread is about Nuclear panic -- and that is not something that is going to happen so stop trying to spread hysterical and irresponsible panic.

Well if people say...

Russia invaded Georgia in 2008 in almost the same way he is doing now. Different person hardly.
What is wrong with you? The man threatened nuclear war.

Again, this thread is about nukes. Of course he wants Kiev. Why would he invade unless he wanted all of it. He needs a buffer against Nato and the gas of Ukraine.

That isn't the argument the argument is nuclear... the only reason people would spread this nuclear panic is if they want to motivate people to irrationally hate Russia and not find out the facts of the matter. Propaganda.

It is funny how he WASN"T a threat in 2008 when he did the same thing in Georgia.

Ukraine is/was the buffer to NATO, Ukraine were not joining NATO. The other side of Ukraine is NATO. I'm not sure you understand what a buffer is.

Is the outrage different when he rolls tanks into Ukraine than into Georgia? Of course. Western bias will always see war on mainland Europe as more newsworthy than war in Tbilisi, that's natural. Was Georgia being armed by NATO allies the way Ukraine is? No - so, is the threat of escalation higher? Absolutely.

oint Statement of the Leaders of the Five Nuclear-Weapon States on Preventing Nuclear War and Avoiding Arms Races

January 03, 2022 • Statements and Releases
The People’s Republic of China, the French Republic, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the United States of America consider the avoidance of war between Nuclear-Weapon States and the reduction of strategic risks as our foremost responsibilities.
Also, doesn't this statement itself suggest that these powers knew this invasion was coming? And (essentially) granted Russia permission.

Yes and that is why we have to calm down on the escalation and irresponsible statements. I don't worry about Putin I worry about some accident or crazy person.
