China is much smarter than Russia. They want to first reach per capita economic parity with the West before getting into a war where sanctions will occur. They've always been a better version of the USSR from economic reforms to embracing free trade.
Yes, I think sanctions would hurt very little to China, but the U.S won't just levy sanctions unlike Russia. The U.S will send troops, air support, etc. Basically direct involvement in the war. Over 60% of the world's chips are produced there. There will be a war..

That will be based on how China views the US / NATO on Russia vs Ukraine. If US and NATO send no troops and no air support, why should China believe the US will make a 180 turn on TWN matter, especially Biden is still in the WH? China will think this is their best chance now after the US was showing such weakness (Burma, Afgh, Ukraine ....)
If China was going to invade Taiwan they should do it NOW.... hey Xi if you are reading these forums... if you wait until the Russian conflict is over you'll have the whole PR war focused on you... but if you invade NOW the PR war will be split between Russia and Ukraine and you can both achieve your objectives as the west wonders who they should hate more.
I'm just saying, as someone interested in geopolitics... it's the PERFECT TIME to strike. If they want Taiwan, it's the best time in the history of the planet for them to go for it. There is no better time.
