Not everyone has the option of working from home. I'm also looking at this from what might be ahead in the coming months. Summer will be here before you know it. Gas prices go up in the summer. I'm working more on taking a side-hustle gig. I want to save more money. I'm more concerned about being able to re-build a nest egg.
I live in the southern USA. Public transportation where I live isn't that good. It also doesn't run on Sunday. Where are live, there are low-income individuals who will buy old beater cars, simply because the bus system isn't reliable. I also suspect the bus system will raise their fares to make up for rising gas prices.
I also think about this. Many people live too far from a bus stop for it to be reliable. I'm looking at things the way they are in America, in general. Public transportation options might be very good in NYC, Boston, and DC. Seattle, Portland, the Bay Area, very good public transportation. Chicago too. However, many cities don't operate that way.
