For some of us that isn't an option. I live too far from work for walking to be a viable option. And with the weather getting warmer, it really won't be an option. My office is in a walkable area. The apartments in those areas are much more expensive, and this is if you can get one. Plenty of housing shortages to consider. Many people live too far from work to drive. And many don't have the option to work remote.
Same here, No public transportation. Cab service is spotty at best, $10 to go to the store and back when available. One of the specialists I have to see is 90 miles round trip. I need a car, but sure can't afford a new one.
If all you want is a car to use around town as a grocery getter, by all means go electric. For anything else, like a longer trip, they're kind of useless.
Some of them are pretty fast, but the limited range needs to get better as does the charging time. I think it might be 5-10 years before a good lithium-ion battery is developed that charges in under 20 minutes.
The other thing to consider is the cost of battery replacement. Eventually the charging capacity declines and replacement costs can run into the $10K to even $20K range.
It will be some time before I could ever seriously consider an EV.
Have they figured out yet how apartment dwellers are supposed to charge their EV’s overnight?

I hate to be the bearer of more bad news …. But we will soon enter the Refinery Maintenance when they get ready to switch to the Government mandated Summer Blends required by most .Blue States.
Gas prices always increase when they do that + the Global Oil/Gas Shortage is impacting the Futures Contracts.
Commodities are priced Globally, based on Supply/Demand.
In the past, we could usually work with Saudi Arabia to boost some supply.
We can’t do that now— Biden refuses to talk to the man in charge of everything in Saudi Arabia.
Biden’s Tantrum is the reason why. We don’t have to love or approve of these people, but when they can have such a Huge impact on Energy - does it really make any sense to deliberately insult them?
There are those who will say that you should have planned your life better and that you are, in fact, part of the problem by being so car dependent.
I sure hope you don't ever find yourself without a car, seeing as how it's a 9 mile walk to the closest Walmart, over in Dunkirk. I guess for your daily food needs you could walk (or bike) 1.5 miles to Roland's Supermarket down in Chesapeake Beach, though good luck lugging your groceries the 1.5 miles back home. Your hometown is a nice place, but it's not exactly on the beaten path; if it ever becomes too expensive for most people to drive a car, the place will shrivel up and die.
You realize Biden has nothing to do with the price of gas.
Odd that Bush 1 and 2 gave us record oil prices in 1991 and 2008 nate thanks to their failed wars.
