This is one big difference in modern times. We used to get upset at what people said or do within the USA but we Never use to laugh at Americans being detained by a Communist country. Mocking Americans use to stop at our borders but now Americans really seem to care more about politics and political leanings than supporting Americans detained for suspicious reasons abroad.
Its a bit weird given Nationalism is all the rage now, it would seem this should trigger pushback by all these US Nationalist Folk.

She was arrested a week prior to Russia even invading the Ukraine. It was almost 3 months ago so I think a lot of people forgot the timing of her arrest.
Russia didn't even start to get really mad about stuff until about 2-3 weeks into the war as it started to not go their way like it had.
But regardless, it was still 75 days until the US govt. objected and even then they give no basis for the objection.
American cops have been caught planting drugs. It wouldn't surprise me if Russian cops plant drugs to nab people they want.
However, it sounds like we are talking about a very small amount. Basically, some marijuana residue. This is something I can easily believe because people bring those weed vape pens everywhere. They use them in public in the USA all the time without even thinking about it. Many of them don't even smell when the user uses it. I could definitely believe that she brought it without thinking about it, and it landed her in trouble. I would suspect the Russians were lying if they tried to say she brought a sack of weed into the country or something. Most people know better than to try to intentionally sneak drugs into Russia.
Sry, my fd. You need to understand ONE BIG ISSUE here: Not every country in the world views marijuana as a recreational drug, many countries view it as a HARD DRUG. Also, it is a fact that she brings in a few vapes that contain marijuana for her personal use. Anyway, I blamed this one on her social circle and MSM.
