Its a bit weird given Nationalism is all the rage now, it would seem this should trigger pushback by all these US Nationalist Folk.
I think the lack of sympathy is widespread and more in line with her getting busted for drugs despite the grumblings from some cons about the national anthem.

I personally haven't heard of any suspicious reasons although I believe they may be coming down hard on her as opposed to giving her a pass due to current conflicts over Ukraine.

in the 70s i put some pot in my baggage on a flight into mexico for a vacation in my teens. i was incredibly stupid looking back. I wasn't caught with my marijuana by the officials at the airport. i was 19 years old! i never did such a stupid thing again.

I would never have transported drugs at this woman's age. she was an adult of 30 years old and beyond stupid.

And yet, they just returned a US soldier.

Mexico, like Russia apparently, doesn't have bail system either. You wait in jail until your court date.

Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time. Problem solved.

This is another thing that has changed. Americans would never take the Russian Government at their word so quickly until recently as we know they lie all the time. Again I feel like it's bizarro world these days.

Except she indeed brought weed into the country. She made her own bed.

American cops have been caught planting drugs. It wouldn't surprise me if Russian cops plant drugs to nab people they want.

However, it sounds like we are talking about a very small amount. Basically, some marijuana residue. This is something I can easily believe because people bring those weed vape pens everywhere. They use them in public in the USA all the time without even thinking about it. Many of them don't even smell when the user uses it. I could definitely believe that she brought it without thinking about it, and it landed her in trouble. I would suspect the Russians were lying if they tried to say she brought a sack of weed into the country or something. Most people know better than to try to intentionally sneak drugs into Russia.

Errr hold up a sec there before assuming I just took Russias word for everything.

The US govt. waited 75 days before declaring her wrongfully detained and I'd not seen any outcry over the vape oil being planted etc. but rather that it shouldn't be so harshly punished.

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/05/03/s...ined-wnba.html

The US govt. if you choose to read the link intentionally does not say WHY she has been designated as wrongfully detained.

That strong implies to me that yeah, she did indeed have some vape oil because otherwise they'd have been screaming at the state dept. and they'd be huffing and puffing about this. Why aren't they? Well probably because the Russians have video and they'd make the US look stupid.

So, the US govt. sits quietly and after 75 days says it's wrong but won't say why.

If she didn't actually have drugs and told the US consulate she was being framed then the Biden admin is in hottttttt water for not making a stink about this. So just mull that over.
