Then provide protection for the visitors just like the doctors and nurses have. And this isn't for every person a patient knows. Immediate family like a spouse, parent or child or whoever is living with the person should be granted rights or whoever is on the patient's "notify" on their insurance or will should be granted rights.

Are these the same people who were screaming when the NY gov. sent Covid patients into nursing homes? You just do not do that! We have learned.

And I have a cousin in a nursing home and am thankful that they banned visitors. Every time they lift that ban, some visitor brings Covid in and they have to reinstate the ban. The Covid spreads around to staff and residents and then even more residents are left with the prospect of dying alone.

And it's no act. Ron DeSantis is a decent man and that is what makes him such a wonderful governor. God bless him.

You mean the same ones that would force hospitals to allow visitors, and more spread of it? Because thats what this law does. It kills more people.

for those saying I can martyr myself, you show a ignorance of what that word means. Dying alone to protect others is not exactly the sort of thing that makes you a martyr. LOL. But you use the word cause it sounds scary. Pathetic.

Act with some courage folks. Protect those you care about.

An acquaintance of ours had the saddest Facebook post I ever read. His wife was taken away hysterically crying afraid to be sick and alone when they both went to the hospital with Covid. They never saw each other again. He was never allowed to visit even after he recovered and I am sure had immunity.

Our cousins aunt was in a nursing home. The family was not allowed to visit for months. She finally got Covid and died.

So true. To have the government making politically motivated decisions on best practices for hospitals to protect patients, staff and even community is mind-boggling in its idiocy.

Where it gets tricky is in cases of advanced Alzheimer's or other dementia. The individual may have lost their capacity to make an informed decision or consent. So who makes that decision for them - the prospective visitor, the nursing home, or the state?

You mean...the same thing the Feds have been doing for the past two years?

That has been the CDC, Fauci et al for the past two years.

Well, should you end up hospitalized with cancer (which I certainly hope doesn't happen), please, make sure to inform the hospital to ban all visitors to your room.

A person doesn’t need to be in the same room to make medical decisions. That’s why we have phones and ipads.
