The constitutional “invasion” idea has long simmered on the fringes of the right, but its growing prominence shows the lengths to which Republicans are willing to go to try to secure the border on their own under President Joe Biden. Under the plan, Texas would invoke Article IV, Section 4, and Article I, Section 10, of the U.S. Constitution to exercise extraordinary wartime powers and use state law enforcement— Department of Public Safety officers and state National Guard troops — to immediately turn back migrants at the border.

Looks like Governor Abbott is willing to pull out all the stops to help end this illegal invasion on his state's border. Glad we have some politicians who are gaining a backbone on this issue.

If this old granny could get a fake ID anybody could. And then I can get passed any e verify that does not verify jack.

Texas could institute a state income tax. They never will. At least we'd have a vague idea of who is working.

Texas ISDs could verify the eligibility of the people who apply for free lunch. That's one of the biggest long running scams in the state.

Texas could require contractors to be licensed. They did pass a law that said anybody working on electricity or plumbing had to be licensed. They require no permit or inspection. My friend just remodeled her house in Houston. Relocated plumbing in 3 baths and the kitchen. Moved appliances.. Had to bring in more electricity for the kitchen because she went from gas to induction. No permits were pulled. It is a joke. And guess who is doing all this construction work? One guy gets the job, shows up a couple times a day to walk around and mutter. And the help is paid under the table. SO not one of them is paying any kind of tax.

IDK what the Texas taxpayer will be on the hook for. The National Guard wants 2 billion in the next budget.

It is all smoke and mirrors. I'd be all for moving the guard off the King ranch and onto the border.
