On my 10 hour KLM flight from Amsterdam to Houston two days ago, mask wear was finally demoted to "recommended" from the formerly "required." Despite the recommended label, none of the crew wore a mask and once the 300 passengers heard they weren't required anymore, we all took them off. What ease! What comfort! Upon arrival at the Houston Airport, none of the staff were wearing masks either. And I'm still alive to type this!
That's good to hear. It would be nice to hear what scientific rationale this was based on and what scientific rationale the masks were in the first place, but our government will never tell us because there was none. It was just a stab in the dark and a trial run at mass conformity.
Public transportation, especially international travel, is a filth-filled experience where there is not just covid, but tb, measles, a couple dozen respiratory ailments, noroviruses and worse floating around. The plane itself is pretty clean, but I'll be wearing a mask while boarding and unboarding - where everyone is packed and literally breathing all over you - long after covid is forgotten.
