i have never notice, Im always "dont hit me, dont hit me" no matter what color or race they are. most of the time its fat old people in the motorize wheel chairs going down middle of asle
I changed the way I push my cart when I lived in CA because some people would have their entire large family with them everywhere they went, hogging up the entire sidewalk, the aisles, etc.
And yes, it does happen to shorter people - a LOT. I used to ask, 'Am I invisible?' when someone would almost plow me over as if they didn't see me.
Now, I walk next to my cart, steering it from the side, and I pretend I'm also not paying attention.
I don't have the problem of people expecting me to move all the time, anymore.
moving out of the way is a two way street so to speak. i identify as white and no one moves out of the way regardless of color. i learned how to deal with it from a black woman i used to work with:
we were walking together at the cafeteria and a group of 4 abreast was coming our way, not allowing us to pass. my coworker just stopped walking in the middle of the hallway forcing the group to move over. i have used that tactic since.
Bumping into someone in other cultures can cost you your life. Like gang culture that has overtaken many communities. a perceived dis qualifies for a violent response. Consider the flood of different cultures biden invited in, dispersed in the dark of night.
No matter how bad ass you think you are, there are crazier meaner people with no boundaries waiting to strike out. 'you feeling lucky'??
Heads up! that shout startled her and her device fell to the ground and shattered.

I too do the stop walking thing. If required.
I'm a big ole white boy too. Lot of mass here. If she want's to run into me. Give it your best shot. What will happen is my white t-shirt will have a splash mark on it. Very similar to the one bugs leave, who challenge the windshield of my truck on the highway.
