So it isn't mental illness to want a minor to get elective surgery to lop off private parts and to take chemicals that will permanently change their body including so they can't conceive, nurse, orgasm, etc. Because they dislike their body and want different genes.

How is that appropriate for a minor to make such permanent changes encouraged by the left?

After fathering 6 children with 3 wives, he decided to complete his transition in his 60’s.

I don’t think Jenner, now 72, is at high risk of becoming a mass shooter of random people.

No, effective treatment would be stating, "There is no way to become the opposite sex, who have different bone structures, brains, reproductive organs, etc., that cannot be replicated. However, you can be a girl and like to watch sports", "You can be a girl and like to work on cars", "You can be a girl and not like to wear makeup", "You can be a boy and like to clean the house", "You can be a boy and like fashion", "You can be a boy and like gardening", etc.

Ten years ago, women who dressed more masculine and liked to work on cars would have been labeled a "tomboy". And, a man that had a sense of fashion, liked cleaning his house, liked to cook, liked to garden (and other traditionally feminine virtues) would have been labeled a "tomgirl".

Somehow, we went from saying that it was okay for a woman to work on cars and men to have a sense of fashion, without it really meaning anything, to surgically removing genitalia. *THAT* is where the Democratic Party and the Progressive ideology are encouraging mental illness.

Uh, oh! I seem to have hit a nerve... Perhaps my post is too close to the truth for you all to handle?

If you truly believe that "transgenderism" is a normal phenomenon, then you all should have no problem accepting that some are born the wrong race or species, right?

To Ansible90, I care because we have a President, political party, and a political ideology that encourage the removal of genitalia to "feel" better. In fact, our President is encouraging the "transition" of school-age children. We do not let them vote, purchase and consume alcohol, or view an R rated movie, but, they are emotionally mature enough to decide to have their genitalia removed?...

To all, to consider a man who had his "ding-dong" removed to be a woman, is to deny basic science, biology, and logic.

Victim mentality is fostered, encouraged. Embraced for political gain, it will never be discouraged

Believing you were born the wrong sex does not make it so that you want to bring harm to others. Actually, it makes it so that you want to harm yourself, by denying basic science and biology, and causing irreversible, permanent damage to your body.

From what I have seen and read, it's a teacher who has mental illness thinking they are the opposite sex, an animal or a frying pan who is looking for validation from their students. Get the student to feel the same way so they can then validate the teacher.

Works out well for Democrats, as most of these mentally ill people flock to the Democrat party. The more children they can confuse, the more eventual Democrats there will be. This is why the Biden administration and other Democrats are pushing so hard to screw up children.

How about the encouraging/enabling parents of a four year old who suddenly decides he's a little girl? So the child is rushed to a "psychologist" immediately, and then a butcher/doctor.

Mental illness on three levels for sure and possibly four. The "parents." The "psychologist." The "doctor." And maybe even the child... although temporary fantasies are not all that uncommon for a child. They most often quickly pass.

1967 Ronald Reagan is elected governor of California. At this point, the number of patients in state hospitals had fallen to 22,000, and the Reagan administration uses the decline as a reason to make cuts to the Department of Mental Hygiene. They cut 2,600 jobs and 10 percent of the budget despite reports showing that hospitals were already below recommended staffing levels.

1967 Reagan signs the Lanterman-Petris-Short Act and ends the practice of institutionalizing patients against their will, or for indefinite amounts of time. This law is regarded by some as a “patient’s bill of rights”. Sadly, the care outside state hospitals was inadequate. The year after the law goes into effect, a study shows the number of mentally ill people entering San Mateo's criminal justice system doubles.

1969 Reagan reverses earlier budget cuts. He increases spending on the Department of Mental Hygiene by a record $28 million.

1973 The number of patients in California State mental hospitals falls to 7,000.

1980 President Jimmy Carter signs the Mental Health Systems Act to improve on Kennedy’s dream.

1981 President Reagan repeals Carter’s legislation with the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act. This pushes the responsibility of mentally ill patients back to the states. The legislation creates block grants for the states, but federal spending on mental illness declines.

2004 The U.S. Department of Justice estimates that 10 percent of state prisoners have symptoms that meet criteria for a psychotic disorder.

2015 In the San Francisco Homeless Count, 55 percent of people experiencing chronic homelessness report they have emotional or psychiatric conditions."
Nearly 70 years ago, states began closing public psychiatric hospitals, hell holes, because they had become political embarrassments and states had other things to do with their money.

Those with means continued to be able to relatively easily institutionalize family members who exhibited symptoms of dyslexia, depression, anxiety, wives who were non- compliant and others who might cause family embarrassment.

The trend towards patients’ rights, increased reliance on out patient services and medications is global.

Anyone adjudicated to be mentally incapable of taking care of their own affairs in the US and thus rely on SSDI, can legally buy a firearm. Thus far, none have become mass shooters of random people.

Some countries, such as Israel and Japan require applicants for a license to legally acquire and possess a firearm, must pass a mental and emotion fitness test and do deep dive background checks including interviews with family, employer, neighbors, peers and more. Best case, from the perspective of the applicant, they may eventually be allowed to acquire a single hand gun. High capacity assault rifles , the weapon of choice for most shooters of a large mass of random people, cannot be possessed.

It’s rather mind boggling that any country is open to expending serious $ billions to allow an 18 year old to buy an unlimited quantity of high capacity assault weapons and ammo.

In absence of a history of violence, it’s near impossible to predict anyone’s potential for mass shooting of random strangers.
