We had tons of guns back in the old days. Every had them and knew how to use them. Very few crazy events like this happened. Guns are not the problem here. The youth of America are not the victims of guns, they are the actual people causing the problems. How can they be so filled with hate so young?

These school shootings seem to correlate with the advances in social media.
Going to HS in the 80's, this was not something that I ever worried about. But by the time my own children were in school there had been so many school shootings (Columbine, Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook and more) that schools were having lock down drills and active shooter drills.
These shooters seemed to be motivated by attention. Malcontents seem to crave the notoriety of it all - both the build up on social media and in the news media. Some go so far as to live stream their crimes.
Guns are used but guns aren't the driving force, nor are video games. It's attention seeking behavior along with the desire to feel powerful - forcing people to take notice of them through their horrific acts.
