Your right, in 20 years my generation (Gen X) will be dwindling away and in or headed for “the home” We will have little say in what happens at that point. The older baby boomers are facing that now. Currently it is a political coalition of baby boomers and Gen Xers holding the line against the leftist assault on our values. Each year that passes we loose more power. We will be at the mercy of these kids at some point. Your right to say they could really destroy the country. The leftism they believe in is scary, 246 years of blood sweat and tears could all go up in one generation. Let’s hope there is more to their generation than AOC, Greta and pronouns. I truly hope some of them believe in America.

Yet more children die in swimming pools than by gun shots.

Swimming pool deaths are accidental unlike the mass murderers who shoot up our schools, churches, concerts and movie theaters.

And yet the Democrats have offered no solutions. Just "feel good" vote getting bills.

Maybe we could mandate AR-15 type rifles be left loaded and unsupervised at all pools to save children from accidental drownings?

But the pool exists that made possible the drownings, just like how the gun exists that made possible gun deaths. Ban guns, ban swimming pools. Now there are two less ways children can die.

And? Honestly what is the point of that statement?

Manner of death matters. Accidental drowning is awful, and deeply tragic. But I would wager that it’s not as utterly terrifying as watching someone violently slaughter your friends knowing that you were next. Or being a parent and knowing that’s how your child died.

People aren’t afraid of mass shootings because they might get shot. They’re afraid it might be their child that does and they’ll have to live after that.

Why restrict child porn but not guns?

Is this a serious question?

You can actually defend yourself with a gun. It has happened in a myriad of instances.

Child porn is just spiritually toxic to everyone involved. There is no overall good here.

I drew the parallel with swimming pools because of the point you made but the parallel still holds in that one doesn't ban swimming pools to solve the problem. Instead, one implements safety measures. The same applies to guns.

In days gone by, gun safety was taught in the schools. Not by teachers but by gun safety experts. Of course, school massacres are not about gun or swimming pool safety, they are about mass murderers.

One school massacre would likely have been prevented if one young, unvetted and unassessed young man had been prevented from purchasing his gun by failing a qualification standard. Like being sane and not posting threats on social media. We don't know, we can't say but he may not have had contacts to buy an illegal gun but then who is to say he would not have switched to an arson attack as many do.

My point is that one should stop blaming the gun and instead, blame the nutjobs. The nutjob is actually the cause of the killings. Notice that I am saying killings and not shootings? I'm not really interested in a specific method of killing.

Did you see that claim that Austria has had only one mass shooting since they banned guns after the 1996 Port Arthur massacre? Apart from that being a lie, the actual number of mass killings have increased since that banning.

New Zealand had a worse massacre in which 51 people were murdered in cold blood. The response? Banned guns. The result? An increase in - wait for it - in gun violence! The bannings in both countries are not the cause of course. They just are not the cure.
Can you cite your source please? I lived in the US for thirty years and I can recall countless mass (rampage, not familial nor inner city gang related) killings in that time. Including the Las Vegas massacre the week I left. In the 5 years since being back in Oz, only one, in Darwin 2019, where 4 people died.

And I wonder if Neil Steinberg have knocked a hornet nest? Because there's one hidden skeleton who came from the closets of Google, Bing, Startpage or DuckDuckGo,

Btw, I wonder what Neil Steinberg think of Japanese animes and that controversal Netflix movie Cuties?
