Indeed. Hardly a day goes by when we`re not hearing about "open borders".
If setting a new record for illegal entry isn't "virtual" open borders then I don't know what is. These people are getting into our country where the wall hasn't been built yet.
The wall, what there was of it, was already eroding and collapsing in spots in 2020. What still stands was breached more than 3000 times before Biden stepped foot into office.
It would not be breached if the border patrol was there to shoot/deter/arrest anyone who attempts to cross instead of being charged with being the "Welcome Wagon" for illegals. A wall is there to deter/slow them down so that the border patrol can have time to get there to engage them. You don't just build it and walk away.

CBP officials say the bollard fencing remains a valuable border security tool when combined with surveillance technology and sufficient personnel. Many of the wall segments where breaching has occurred lack the sensors, cameras and other detection tools called for in original designs, they say. Once those tools are in place, agents will be able to respond faster, they say.
My question is just how many more illegals would have been able to breach our border without a wall? I think the answer is clear. Homeland Security and the Border Patrol have said where those good walls are in place they have deterred illegal entry by 90%. End of story!
In Poland, the sophisticated construction of 140 km of barriers on the border with Belarus has been completed in just 5 months. The rest will be ready by the end of the month.
The US south border wall contract should go to Poles, then
Before Trump took office, the US southern border with Mexico already had approximately 654 miles of various fencing erected from past administrations. By the end of Trump’s term the administration claimed to have constructed over 400 miles of border wall, however, only 80 miles of the construction was built in new areas. The majority of the 452 miles was actually reconstructing or replacing previous border barriers.
If the Dems were so hell-bent on making sure everyone knew these weren't new miles of fence (regardless of the condition of what they replaced) and "only" 80 miles of new fence ...
Why are they conversely hell-bent on proclaiming that Biden "created millions of new jobs" when we don't have as many people employed now as we did in 2019?
Now, we also know that the Wall was being built at a rate of 5 miles (? 7?) a week. In 5 months, that would be 100 miles. 140 km is 87 miles. And I'm guessing the Poles didn't have lawsuits, environmental challenges, and half the politicians fighting it tooth and nail.
The fence is 5.5 meters high (18'): 5 meters are steel poles, topped with a half-meter coil of wire so that it is impossible to go to the other side.
Close to 41,000 steel span units and 41,000 steel pillars are used in the construction of the over 186-kilometer-long barrier. Twenty-two gates are built throughout the barrier as well.
Modern, electronic methods of border management (motion sensors along the entire border, cameras) will also be used.
Electronic protection of the external border has been enhanced with further perimeter sets.
The perimeter sets purchased by the Border Guard include, inter alia, seismic sensors and alarm verification cameras. While the cameras are visible to outsiders, only the Border Guard officers know the locations of seismic sensors – buried in the ground.
Alarm signals from seismic sensors and images from cameras are sent to receivers, which Border Guard officers take with them on patrols, and to Border Guard posts.
The equipment is highly mobile and can be used in all terrain conditions. https://border-security-report.com/p...at-the-border/
That's the sort of thing we should have, something with lots of cameras, sensors, and drones; much of the simple metal fence we've built so far was easily cut open with a $99 power tool from Home Depot almost as soon as the construction crews moved on.

You cannot believe that if you have ever actually used tools.
Square steel filled with concrete cannot be cut with a 99$ power saw. That whole story was a hoax.

All of those things were a part of the original plan but it was not completed yet. Cutting through a wall is one thing. Getting away with it is quite another.
