"We" are not all the same people. None of you have this energy when you talk about black crime rates. You make sure to let everybody know that black people are a completely separate group then. Keep that same energy 100% of the time.
Also, this why those super-liberals use words like "erasure". saying "everybody was freed on July 4th" erases black people from american history. white washing history to make it seem like black people weren't still shackled up for nearly a hundred more years.
there is division is this country because white america (in general) does crap like this. literally never addressing anything you've done to black people. Can't even let black people celebrate the end of slavery. Do yall wonder why yall get called racist?
You constantly complain that white America has never done anything specifically for blacks.
Well here it is! Your very own holiday! Yet, you continue to sling insults at white people because what you really wanted is money. Lots of it.
Why not do like so many other minorities and utilize the generous State and Federal programs to help you create your own success, via education and honest labor?
Reparations cash is not coming. You were never a slave and we were never slaveowners.

For almost 180 years black people in the United States have been celebrating some day to acknowledge either the prospect of being freed or actually being freed. Aug 1 has been Emancipation Day since 1843 and some black communities still celebrate the day. Aug 1 1843 was the day the slaves were freed in the British West Indies and black people slave or free in America used that day for their yearly celebration. White people participated in these celebrations and sometimes there would be more white than black at Emancipation Day.
Suddenly the woke right has a problem with it. IMO America has to many holidays to celebrate war.
You constantly complain that white America has never done anything specifically for blacks.
Actually, blacks wanted to be left alone.

Just like St. Patrick's Day or Columbus Day, anyone can celebrate Juneteenth.

You forget the history of Black History Month on this forum before it had so many conservatives. It was celebrated by folks posting stories of black achievement by celebrated individuals of the US.
Now all we get is the whine "When's white history month?" Its a big change.

It marks the date when this entire nation finally had its moral compass pointed in the right direction and the last vestiges of sanctioned slavery ended. It is very much worth celebrating, essentially our second day of independence, and if I had to choose between having a holiday for Martin Luther King and having Juneteenth I would choose Juneteenth every time. It is not just a holiday for black citizens, just like July 4th is not a holiday for just white citizens, it is a holiday for all Americans. Juneteenth is a celebration of the breaking of the oppression of slavery.
We Jews call our version Passover. And we still celebrate our Exodus from Egypt 3000 years ago. I don't recall current politics having anything to do with it.
Juneteenth or not, black people have managed to enslave themselves by blindly supporting a party that simply does not care for them. The Democrats have managed to keep a huge number of them on the plantation, 157 years after the end of slavery.
