And the corporations can't just turn on a dime and follow whatever political climate this country has. They have to follow what the political climate of the planet is doing. And that, is going green. Right, wrong, or indifferent, there is no denying that. They don't just sell vehicles here...it's a global market.
Yeah, and things aren't moving in the globalists' direction.
Look at Europe. They just designated natural glass as climate friendly. They're also going big on nuclear which is now far safer than it was in the bad old days. I was a skeptic, but no. Hydro power may be big as well.
There's a massive backlash going on, and that is only the beginning.
They played their hand too soon, and this entire market sector - which never truly got off the ground to begin with - is going to come crashing down.

To make matters worse a serious ev commitment by any of the automakers might not have they outcome they desire. I can't believe manufacturers in particular don't understand or are ignoring the logistics including lithium mining. And since it's such a different product yes employees will be laid off, plants closed and vendors that supply the gas vehicles will be affected as well.
EVs should be considered an option for a slower integration not transition into the auto market.
Also, how are they going to have a global market when the two most populous nations on Earth (China and India), are both leaning into their acceleration to coal power? Developing nations are not going to tell their emerging middle classes to go screw.
And now even Germany is going back to coal power because of the gas shortage imposed by Russia.
This electric car thing ain't happening any time soon, doesn't matter what BS the globalists try to foist on us.
This Left Wing lunacy is completely hurting the average American, and this is only one front of their War on everything pro-Freedom and prosperity.
Never bought a Ford, and I certainly won't be in the market for one any time soon.
Since conservatives are supposed to be strongly opposed to the ideology of switching to EV, then please explain why among the most conservative of states are embracing it? Panasonic took advantage of the over $800 billion incentive by Kansas to build a huge battery plant there. Oklahoma gave $400 million to Canoo to start its electrical vehicle production there. Surely, Texas was thrilled to get the new Tesla pickup truck plant. Oklahoma had been wanting it. Total employees at those three companies are going to make up for losses at Ford. This is what pro-prosperity is going to be about in the future for those conservative states. So RhodyRepub, you need to wake up and realize your point doesn't make a lick of sense.

GM has been a bad example of a business ever since they went on a private jet to ask for bail out assistance from the Federal Government. My point on the lay-offs is why no outrage when Ford eliminated 20k positions in 2018? Or was it acceptable with the last administrations?
Glad you work in the industry then you should know better than anyone that the bottom line is what matters to the American Big 3. Ford has made a choice what direction they are going to take the company and they will grow again just like they did when seatbelts were made mandatory and when EPA MPG standards were implemented and raised multiple times. The demise of the American Automobile industry has been foretold too many times and they're still here.
But the OP as always acts like this has only just happened, that the events of the last year and a half have brought all this change and everything is the administrations fault and that Republicans never let this happen. Yeah then how do they explain all the jobs losses during their turn of being in the White House?
We're going down the wrong road with this EV thing. And you know when it will become evident? AFTER the damages is done and AFTER it cause an environmental catastrophe and AFTER a whole lot of people go through some really desperate times.
