Pence's wanting to turn the U.S. into a theocracy would scare me a little. Although I admire what he did for our country in 2021. I think he's a good man at heart.

I voted for Trump twice but now I want someone who isn't on SS and won't be in the near future to run the country and adhere to what I and million of others who believe in what is best for the country.

And it ain't a 'Woke' culture.

I am open to voting for him again, or for someone willing to take up his mantle. Or even better, Rand Paul.

Trump was wholly unqualified to be President in 2016, nothing has changed for the 2024 election.

Why do people think Trump won the nomination back in 2016 in the first place? People were sick of the tired old script that Republican establishment neocons were putting out there. They nominated McCain and Romney, two paragons of that establishment model, and they lost resoundingly with little to show for themselves as there wasn't much interest in them.

I don't see how anyone here thinks Tom Cotton, Chris Christie, Nikki Haley or Liz Cheney would galvanise anyone to getting out there to vote. Pence is looked at with little fondness these days. Liz Cheney is polling abysmally in her home state amongst Republicans. The only candidate who could potentially fill Trump's shoes is DeSantis and it's possible he's going to concentrate on his gubernatorial reelection campaign. If any of those potential candidates were to win it'd have to do with the absolute blowback of things that occurred under Biden.

FYI, there hasn't been a candidate since McKinley in 1900 who has gone on to win reelection despite overseeing an economic downturn that turned into a recession.

I posted this in the Jan 6 thread. Trump is out.

This is Sarah Longwell a Republican Strategist (Never Trumper) who conducts very compelling focus groups among Trump voters..she is being interviewed on CNN. This makes alot of sense on how these hearings are impacting Trump voters.

https://www.cnn.com/videos/media/202...cts-rs-vpx.cnn

She's conducted 9 focus groups with Trump voters since the beginning of the hearings, prior to the hearings at least 50% of the participants want to see Trump run again, since the hearings began that has fallen to virtually zero....not so much that they believe the hearings but because it is putting a spotlight on how much baggage Trump brings. Question to Trump supporters....Do you want 4 years of Trump? or 8 years of of another GOP candidate??"

The Republican bench is deep.

Can you imagine Trump losing to Biden, of all people, twice?
